Programme management educational real estate

Together with the municipality of Almere, we ensure an integrated approach to educational housing, which not only makes schools better facilitated, but also contributes optimally to their environment.

Need for coherence

Since the summer of 2023, we have been working with the municipal organisation and various partners to improve educational housing in Almere. In the first phase of this project, we developed a toolbox to help combine different functions in school buildings, both for new construction projects like Pampus and for renovations in neighbourhoods like Molenbuurt. During the evaluation, it became clear that this methodology can only be successful if it is closely coordinated with other parts of the education system, regional and national developments and spatial planning. Without this coherence, we risk our efforts actually contributing to further fragmentation.

A streamlined approach

Based on our experiences and insights, we have proposed an integrated approach for the second phase of this programme. This includes effective programme management and the implementation of the function blending toolbox in all of Almere’s education housing projects. Our goal is twofold:

1. Mapping all the various education-related initiatives in Almere and then translating this into practical programme management.
2. Actively use the function blending toolbox to achieve sustainable and integrated solutions.
    

Through this approach, we create a structured programme where we provide clear guidelines and expectations to all stakeholders. This ensures better alignment and efficiency in achieving high-quality educational housing. Our method also offers better chances of obtaining external funding, which is essential for achieving long-term goals.
